The Gift of a Hand to Hold
My photography reflects what my heart and my eyes see. I sometimes feel that I hide behind my camera as I capture little moments between people whether milestone moments or just life moments. I have to be careful in that I remember to particiipate when these moments are meant for me to be a part of especially with my family. There was a season when I could not pick up my camera at all - it was a season of grief and sorrow. But a little over 4 years ago, I was called at 3:30 in the morning and invited to go to the hospital with my sweet friend, Ken to be there for the birth of his grandson, Kalen. I was not expecting to share in this special day, so I jumped out of bed, dressed quickly and grabbed my camera from the back of my closet and ran out the door. While we waited, I took a few photos - not trying to intrude while still capturing moments. When Kalen arrived late that evening, I stood back and took photos as each family member held and loved baby Kalen. Since that day, I have taken thousands of photos of Kalen....I have captured pretty much every single first for him with my camera-from holidays to just plain old fun days. This is where my passion for photography was reborn - the day this precious boy came into this world and into our family. I have spent so many days with Kalen and his Papa capturing their love for adventures and their love for each other. On this journey, I too, have found passion and love. A passion for photography, a love for a man and love for a little boy who have breathed life into me. I am grateful for a God who has blessed me with a hand to hold. Photography is very personal to me, it's about relationship and it's about love.
