The Johnson Family
This is the photo session I was most nervous to do so I did what I know to do when I am nervous: I prepared....I watched tutorials, I purchased just the right blankets, hair bows, a mini space heater, I even practiced swaddling my innocent dog, Chase, (I think he is still bitter) and I prayed. I prayed that God would guide my words and allow me to capture images of Ryleigh and her family that would remind them of this special time in their lives. The hours I spent with Ryleigh and her mom were so intimate and amazing. We had a genuinely wonderful time together laughing and talking and sweating as we tried to keep the room warm enough to keep a naked baby asleep and content. And then a few days later, I had the pleasure of taking their family photos adding big sister and daddy. I realized during these two sessions something about myself and my photography. It's about relationships for me. As I was editing their images, I could remember what we were talking about, the warmth of the room, the laughter and the intimacy of being allowed into a family to share just a few hours with them. I laughed when I remembered being pooped on by a sleeping newborn, the joy of a 5 year old when I asked her to jump on the bed, the smile from a daddy as I asked him to kiss his sweet baby and the same smile on his face when I asked him to kiss his beautiful wife. I have caught myself wanting to check in on Kiersten to see how she is doing. It is amazing how God answered my prayer to serve this family well.
